SIAM Welcomes New Meeting Manager and Marketing and Communications Assistant

The team here at SIAM has grown recently, bringing aboard a new Meeting Manager in the Conferences Department and Marketing and Communications Assistant in the Marketing Department. Get to know Heather and Kamryn!

Heather Hartz, Meeting Manager

Heather comes to SIAM with eleven years of experience in meeting management, gained at the University of Pennsylvania for the Society for Classical Studies, the primary academic association in North America for the study of ancient Greek and Roman languages, literatures, and civilizations. Most recently, she worked as a freelance researcher and research analyst for a range of clients including individuals needing meeting and travel consulting, academic authors, and both tech and non-tech startups. Her favorite hobbies are live music and travel, although these days she spends most of her spare timing reading and Netflix binging in the company of her cats C.K. and Digby.

Q: Why are you excited to be working at SIAM?

A: I’ve spent most of my career working for mission-driven academic associations, so SIAM is a great natural habitat for me. I also really value SIAM’s culture and friendly environment.

Q: Why do you think STEM is important?

A: STEM is a bedrock of how modern society understands and interacts with the entire world; it also plots out many possible future paths. Its critical importance is especially obvious as we navigate our way through the current pandemic crisis.

Q: What is one thing that most people do not know about you?

A: I was County spelling bee champion in 7th grade (my winning word was “sabotage”).

Kamryn Scrivens, Marketing and Communications Assistant

Kamryn is currently a junior at Temple University, studying Journalism and Spanish. Her experience working as an Amazon Prime Student Ambassador is where her love for marketing arose. She previously worked at PHL 17 as a Morning News Intern where she wrote news stories for the show, incorporated social media marketing, assisted with production needs, and so much more. Kamryn is an Executive Producer, Anchor, Writer, Reporter, and Director of social media for shows at Temple University’s TUTV. While working at SIAM, her goals are to become a better writer, gain more experience working on marketing strategies, and offer her creativity to promote innovation.

Q: Why are you excited to be working at SIAM?

A: I am so excited to work at SIAM because it gives me an opportunity to broaden my range of experiences. SIAM is an organization that is open to change and provides a multitude of resources and opportunities to help everyone from any generation. My values align with the organization's goals and I could not be more proud to represent SIAM in the best way possible.

Q: Why do you think STEM is important?

A: STEM is important because at the end of the day when it comes to real-world issues, the research and efforts put into the industry, benefits everyone. It can often lead to great new ideas when it is paired with vision and creativity.

Q: What is one thing that most people do not know about you?

A: I have attended Grey’s Anatomy University and I now have a degree in television medicine.

Please join all of us here at SIAM in welcoming Heather and Kamryn to the team!
