SIAM Welcomes New Associate Editor of SIAM News

The team at SIAM continues to grow as it welcomes a new associate editor of SIAM News. Get to know Jillian!

Jillian Kunze, Associate Editor of SIAM News

Jillian graduated this May from the University of Maryland (UMD) with degrees in physics and astronomy. While an undergraduate, she worked at the Joint Quantum Institute as a science communicator, where she wrote research-based articles and developed interactive online animations. She also worked on several research projects, including the development of an infrared spectrometer in the Observational Cosmology Laboratory at NASA Goddard and creating a heads-up display integrated with an astronaut helmet through the UMD Gemstone Honors Program.

Q: Why are you excited to be working at SIAM?

A: I have experience writing about science and research, so I'm excited to contribute to SIAM's mission of communicating mathematical knowledge. SIAM seems like a great place to grow as an editor and a writer, and I'm excited to always contribute my best to SIAM News.

Q: Why do you think STEM is important?

A: STEM gives us a framework to interact and learn from the natural world. It is important because it both provides opportunities for technological advancement and forces us to consider our place in the universe.

Q: What is one thing that most people do not know about you?

A: I love to embroider, and my apartment walls are full of different projects I've made!

Please join all of us here at SIAM in welcoming Jillian to the team!
