SIAM Supports Goals of March for Science

A March for Science has been planned in the US (Washington, D.C.) and in other countries around the globe, on Saturday, April 22, 2017. The AAAS is one of the partner organizations, and has encouraged its member affiliates - SIAM is one - to "make the March for Science a success."

The stated mission of the March is as follows:

The March for Science champions robustly funded and publicly communicated science as a pillar of human freedom and prosperity. We unite as a diverse, nonpartisan group to call for science that upholds the common good and for political leaders and policy makers to enact evidence based policies in the public interest.

SIAM upholds and joins AAAS in supporting the principles and goals of the March. In particular, SIAM members work to advance our knowledge and capabilities in applied mathematics, in interaction and collaboration with other scientific and technological communities.

SIAM (the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics) is a non-partisan, international organization of more than 14,000 members serving the disciplines of mathematics and computational science and their application.
