Dear SIAM Membership,
After 25 years as Executive Director of SIAM, Dr. James (Jim) Crowley will be retiring this September. Jim has been a member of SIAM since 1978. He accepted the position as SIAM’s second Executive Director in 1995, following a 22-year career in the Air Force during which he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Jim will continue with SIAM through September 2020 to ensure a smooth and successful transition for his successor.
Under Jim’s leadership, SIAM has expanded its membership, publications, international presence, and conference program while also maintaining strong fiscal health. We are incredibly grateful to Jim for his service and leadership, which have shaped SIAM into the robust society it is today.

SIAM staff, volunteers, and dedicated membership have helped me guide the organization to become the premier applied mathematics and computational science society in the world. I have been blessed with the spirit of being a member of the SIAM community for life. So, thank you.”
SIAM’s Board of Directors has engaged the executive search firm Isaacson Miller (IM) to recruit a deep and diverse pool of candidates for the committee’s consideration as new Executive Director. They hope to name a new Executive Director by late summer 2020. The search committee welcomes qualified nominations and applications from the community for this position.
