I’m Proud to Be a SIAM Member: A Letter From Randy LeVeque

Like many of you, I’ve spent most of my career as a member of SIAM and I can attest to the difference that SIAM membership has made for me both personally and professionally.

From my time as a graduate student back in the 1970’s, to becoming a professor emeritus in 2018, to signing on as a life-time member, SIAM has provided me with professional enrichment and strong community connections for which I am, and will always be, deeply grateful. I imagine many of you feel the same way. That’s why I’m reaching out today and asking you to join me in supporting SIAM with a philanthropic contribution.

SIAM has been my primary professional society for the past 45 years not only because of the high-quality journals and conferences covering a wide range of topics that interest me, but also because it is a superb collection of people. I have made many new friends and met terrific collaborators at SIAM conferences and summer schools, and I have greatly enjoyed serving in leadership roles with dedicated and collegial volunteers and staff. Providing such opportunities for others in our community, particularly for young people who have suffered professionally from the isolation of the past few years, is vitally important. Please help SIAM continue and expand its important role.

Make Your Gift

SIAM continually finds ways to improve the landscape for their members and for applied mathematicians and computational scientists everywhere, but the financial resources to fully fund new initiatives can be difficult to obtain. Your gift to SIAM’s general fund will allow them to direct your support where it’s most urgently needed. Can you chip in with $100, $75, $50, or any other amount today? Let’s join together to ensure that SIAM has the support they need to continue their important work.

Thank you for your consideration.

Best wishes,

Randy LeVeque
