Call for Participation: Occupational Information Network (O*NET) Data Collection Program

The Occupational Information Network (O*NET) Data Collection Program, sponsored by the U.S Department of Labor, is gathering occupational information for approximately 1,000 occupations, including mathematicians. O*NET is the primary source of occupational information used by job seekers, employers, students, workforce agencies, and others who use such information in their daily activities. The program is interested in collecting the names, addresses, and the telephone number for Mathematicians who are considered experts in the field. This information will help ensure that the complexities of your profession are described accurately in the O*NET database for the American public.

Once O*NET receives submissions, they select a random sample and call them to request their participation. At that time, the O*NET program is explained to the participants and they are asked if they would be willing to help by completing a set of questionnaires about their work. Information provided by you and by participating occupation experts is kept private. You can view an example questionnaire here .

You are considered an Occupation Expert if you:

  • Have at least one year of professional experience working in the occupation.

  • Are currently actively involved in the field.
