Third Annual Meeting of SIAM Central States Section Held at Colorado State University

The Third Annual Meeting of SIAM Central States Section took place at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado on September 29 - October 1, 2017. The conference was the largest meeting of the SIAM Central States Section to date and attracted 283 participants from all over the United States, as well as China, Italy, and Spain. The talks were organized in four plenary presentations, 25 minisymposia, and a poster session. The plenary talks were given by Yalchin Efendiev (Texas A&M University), Donald Estep (Colorado State University), Chi-Wang Shu (Brown University), and Guowei Wei (Michigan State University), and addressed various cutting-edge techniques in applied mathematics. The local support for the conference was provided by Colorado State University's Mathematics Department and College of Natural Sciences.

The Fourth Annual Meeting of the SIAM Central States Section is planned for October 2018 and will take place at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma.

The SIAM Central States Section was formed in 2014 and serves SIAM members in Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. The purpose of this section is to enhance the communication among the section members, promote the collaboration for both basic research and applications of mathematics to industry and science, represent applied and computational mathematics in the entire proposed central region, and support the SIAM mission in the central region of the USA.
