SIAM Welcomes New Software Developer

The team here at SIAM has grown recently, bringing aboard a new Software Developer in the Information Management Systems Department. Get to know Steven Mittell!

Steven Mittell, Software Developer

Steven has been a software developer for almost 10 years; he previously worked at QVC and now has a commute of 2 miles per day instead of 80! At home, Steven has a rescue Pittie named "Honey" and is looking forward to taking the doors off of his Jeep when summer comes. Something else to know about Steven is that his last name is German and over there it's correctly pronounced as "middle," over here we pronounce it as "meh-tell."

Q: Why are you excited to be working at SIAM?

A: I have never worked for a non-profit before this. I was excited about leaving the corporate arena and joining an IT team of this size (the total IT size at my last job was in the thousands).

Q: Why do you think STEM is important?

A: Without science, technology, engineering, and math we would not be where we are today, as far as being an advanced civilization. All three are necessary to advance future ideas that will help save the planet, the people, and especially the animals.

Q: What is one thing that most people do not know about you?

A: I almost became a Philadelphia Police Officer. If they didn't have a hiring freeze at the time, I would have gone to the academy. I was ranked 251st out of over 3,000 potential candidates.

Please join all of us here at SIAM in welcoming Steven to the team!
