Recognizing the need to better equip students and early-career professionals with the tools needed to secure jobs in business, industry, and government (BIG), SIAM has partnered with Zhennovate to offer the SIAM BIG Job-Hunting Bootcamp this fall to help you prepare for the SIAM Virtual Career Fair on November 9, 2021 and beyond.
Over the weeks leading up to the SIAM Virtual Career Fair and through December 31, 2021, the SIAM BIG Job-Hunting Bootcamp will engage participants in live group workshops and on-demand professional development resources via the Zhennovate platform. The bootcamp will cover the following topics:
- Working in academia vs. working in industry
- Navigating industry job-hunting process
- Understanding industry job descriptions
- Developing a 1-page resume tailored for BIG jobs
- Researching employers and positions
- Developing an elevator pitch to use when networking with employers and introducing yourself at career fairs
The SIAM BIG Job-Hunting Bootcamp draws on the knowledge and experiences of hiring managers, industry and academia insiders, and career coaches. *SIAM is sponsoring a limited number of spots to join the bootcamp. Applications for these spots will be considered on a rolling basis through September 23, 2021. Applications received after this date will be considered until all the SIAM-sponsored spots have been filled, after which, applicants will be invited to join with an out-of-pocket fee of $120.
