There are two new sections coming to you in 2019! The Mexico Section of SIAM (MEX-SIAM) has been recently revived. The Mexico Section plans to hold an Annual Meeting in 2019, and section members working in different areas of applied mathematics will be invited to participate and give a talk. Facilitating a platform for new collaborations between members of the Mexico Section will be one of the goals of this meeting. Participants will discuss the role of the Mexico Section in the area and they will receive information about future activities. Financial support for travel expenses will be offered to several speakers.
Introducing the SIAM Northern States Section (SIAM-NSS)! This section will encompass Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming. The Northern States Section aims to support the mission of SIAM throughout the region by hosting local activities on advanced topics of common interest to the section members. Moreover, the new section will encourage formation of new SIAM student chapters in the region, and will facilitate new and existing SIAM student chapters to connect. Activities organized by the Northern States Section will be open to all institutions and industries in the region.
Both new sections will provide venues for the section members to communicate, build broader networks, promote collaborative and synergistic efforts in applied and computational mathematics, and support the mission of SIAM.
