"In recent years, education has grown as an area of interest for SIAM. The SIAM Education Committee and the associated Vice-President have addressed many related the issues for the society. Members with strong research and practical interests in educational matters (primarily at undergraduate and graduate levels, but with an increasing awareness of the earlier stages of the pipeline) will now be able to engage and be represented by the new SIAM Activity Group on Applied Mathematics Education (SIAG/ED). The SIAG will have its first sponsored sessions at SIAM CSE15 in Salt Lake City. Preliminary planning is underway for the first SIAG/ED conference, probably in 2016. That meeting will likely coincide with the third SIAM-NSF Modeling Across the Curriculum workshop.
