AN18: SIAM Karaoke Party

Are you attending the 2018 SIAM Annual Meeting, SIAM Conference on Mathematical Aspects of Materials Science, or SIAM Conference on Applied Mathematics Education? Then join us for a night of singing, light snacks, and a beer – or few  at Portland Burger on Tuesday, July 10 from 9:00 p.m. to midnight PDT!

Portland Burger is located at 304 SW 2nd Street, Portland, OR 97204, and is just a 20 minute walk or a short MAX (Portland’s light rail*) ride from the Oregon Convention Center. Please RSVP here if you are planning to attend. This event is for people age 21 and over only.

The SIAM Karaoke Party, sponsored by MathWorks Math Modeling (M3) Challenge, is an opportunity to celebrate the partnership of MathWorks and SIAM in continuing the math modeling contest for high schoolers. During the Karaoke Party we would also love to hear your ideas about driving more students at that age to use technical computing for solving open ended problems in math class or in extra-curricular contests, such as M3 Challenge.

If you have ideas for M3 Challenge problems, would like to be considered as a triage judge, or want to learn more about M3 Challenge or how to become more involved you can let us know at the Karaoke Party too!

Bring your friends and don’t forget to RSVP!

* Pick up your FREE TriMet pass at the SIAM registration desk. The TriMet transit pass – called a Hop Fastpass – allows you to take unlimited trips on MAX light rail trains, buses and streetcars during the validity period of July 8th to the end of the service day on July 13th. The pass covers all trips in the extensive TriMet network – the city of Portland, Portland International Airport (PDX) and surrounding suburbs.
