Christiane Rousseau received her Ph.D. from the University of Montreal, where she is now a professor. She was president of the Canadian Mathematical Society from 2002 to 2004. Since 2011, she has been on the executive committee of the International Mathematical Union of which she was vice-president from 2011–2014. As director of the Centre de Recherches Mathématiques in 2013, she initiated “Mathematics of Planet Earth 2013,” which became a UNESCO International Year. Throughout her career, she has combined research, in dynamical systems, with leadership in outreach activities.
