Research Opportunities in Computational Neuroscience at NSF/NIH

The National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health have released an updated program solicitation for Collaborative Research in Computational Neuroscience. This solicitation ex-tends the program for three years (2008–2010) and is now available at www.nsf.gov/crcns/.

CRCNS is designed to support innovative interdisciplinary collaborative research that could lead to significant advances in the understanding of nervous system function, mechanisms underlying nervous system disorders, and computational strategies used by the nervous system.

Two classes of proposals will be considered: (1) research proposals that describe new collaborative research projects and (2) data-sharing proposals that will enable the sharing of data and other resources.

Potential applicants are encouraged to visit www.nsf.gov/crcns/ to review the details of this solicitation, which incorporates several programmatic and administrative changes. Readers who have technical or administrative questions can also find contact information for the relevant program directors at NSF and NIH on the CRCNS Web site.

The deadline dates for proposals are February 26, 2008, and October 30, 2008 and 2009.

Readers who are interested in ongoing updates about the CRCNS program can join  a public-announcements list by sending a blank e-mail to join-crcns-announce@lists.nsf.gov
